"Maintain your beauty to build your confidence."

I was born and raised in a small town in downriver Michigan called Wyandotte. I basically grew up in the beauty industry. My mother, grandmother and aunt had salons and spas in Michigan. I went to a full cosmetology program at Tri-State Beauty College for Hair, Skin and Nails, and graduated in 1997. Not long after graduation, I purchased my first salon and spa. I was on my way to be an entrepreneur at such an early age. I can remember as a young girl watching my mom doing hair and make up, and being so intrigued. So much that as a teenager, I started immediately working in my mom’s hair salon waxing eyebrows and doing bridal make up. I absolutely love making people look and feel beautiful. I always say “Maintain your beauty to build your confidence.”

My mom was quite the entrepreneur. My mother also owned a tattoo shop just down the street from her hair salon. I can still remember working at the counter sometimes as a receptionist, and this one day in particular changed my life forever. I will never forget the day that a woman came in and asked if we would tattoo her eyebrows on because she had lost all her eyebrows from the treatment that she was receiving because she had cancer. At the time, tattooed cosmetics were basically unheard of. I left that day feeling inspired and thinking, “This beautiful woman is so sad and lost her confidence. I am sure so many woman are going through this.” That very day I begged one of my mom’s staff members to give me an old tattoo gun, and i began tattooing eyebrows on oranges in my spare time. I used to bring my oranges home from school lunch and tattoo eyebrows on them. Now, every time i put a beautiful set of eyebrows on a woman, I think of her and how she inspired me.

But growing up, my whole life, I always wanted to live where there were palm trees and sunshine. So, in 2006 I sold my hair salon and my home and moved to St. Petersburg, FL. When I moved to St. Petersburg, I started working as a receptionist at a local hair salon and spa while attending medical school at Americare school of Nursing. I had a strong desire to work in Trauma but also loved the cosmetic surgery field, so i applied for a job at a local hospital where they had a trauma center as well as a surgery center, and figured I would see where fate took me. I interviewed right away and started working in the CVICU. I loved working with patients and really enjoyed how fast-paced the job was but I never felt full filled like I did in the beauty industry. So, in 2009 I decided to sell my boat and cash in my savings to pen a medical spa that specialized in medical skincare and esthetics. I focused all day and night on doing research on products and techniques that would really work and show results quickly but be extremely affordable as well. Now with over 25 years in the beauty industry, I have received some of the top awards in medical esthetics and permanent cosmetics. I have also maintained a five-star rating for customer service and highest quality of service in the industry.

People around town call me JenSpa. I think some of them may actually think my last name is spa. It’s exciting to see my business grow, and I love telling the story of how I started and how I came up with the name. I wanted a name that was unique and that I could later trademark. JenSpa is very different from your average spa where they just wash your face, use steam and massage some smelly lotion into your skin. At JenSpa, we actually get to the source of your esthetic needs using the latest equipment and techniques to customize a treatment that works for your skin type as well as to reduce signs of aging. For some clients it is taking away dead and tired skin to restore a youthful glow, or for some it’s about making life easier for them by giving them permanent cosmetics, such as eyebrows or eyeliner. I am sure everyone can use a visit to JenSpa. We look forward to assisting you with all your esthetic needs.
